Mmm wrinkles

I made a quilt panel today withe the intent for it to turn into a pillow sham to go with the peony quilt.
I love how the texture improves with a hor wash and dry with cotton batting.

I used 4 different colors of thread and varied the width beween them. Up close it looks a little easter eggish with lime, sky blue, and lavender.  At a distance, the colors are better and it is harder to tell that I cant stitch a straight line.

Huckleberries & Amethyst

My part of the group project is finished. Will be mailing it to Anna tomorrow.
I have mixed feelings about the peony. It looks better at close range than at distance.  I think there are all kinds of opportunities to make the quilting really make this shine.  Now I am off to make a mini quilt with the scraps to be a pillow sham.

Alex#2

The background is finally finished and I spent some time this morning designing a peony. Challenge is that traditionally peonys are very dense and I am afraid it would look like a giant purple dot. Just talked with my co-conspirator and after lunch I will work on a fringy layer between the bud and petals.

Alex Step 1

I have been working on the first step of the group project for Alex
4" finished stips.

A mix of prints, muslin and pale batik. Just enough variety to give it some movement.

Zydeco

Friday night. Cutting stips of fabric while drinking beer and listening to Cajun Zydeco music. That also counts as my workout - if Zydeco doesn't make you dance, you must be dead. Pardon me while I close the blinds before I become the neighborhood freak show.

Binding inspector

I finished the binding on Amy's quilt Monday. I didnt have the right foot on the machine and it didn't turn out as nicely as i would have liked. I have been reasurred by the quilt inspector that it is just fine.

Group project

I have managed to add a new project to my must finish. A "neice" of my extended family is getting married in May. Unfortunately, the 3 of us who want to make a quilt for her live 300 miles apart from one another.  After a brainstorming session, the cream backgrounds hitched a ride from Utah. I pulled some lavenders from my stash.  Will need to buy a few more to get to size.  The goal is something muted and modern. Hope Idon't  hurt myself with that stretch from my norm.
