After many distractions, it is finally done. Total hours? Somewhere upward of 400 over 16 months.
I first washed the quilt in cold with 2 Shout brand Color Catchers (can you say paranoid?) the result was the 2 slightly pink sheets. Center is a new Color Catcher. Then, just to be sure, I washed it in hot w/ 2 new Color Catchers. Interestingly, it was the blue that bled. Hmmm. Who knew?
And finally...a shot in situ
Happy Graduation Guitar Girl!

WOW! Absolutely stunning, Marjorie! Well done with the scallops.
Fantastic! You must be the first person to finish this quilt along (not counting those doing it by machine or making it much smaller). So you are the winner!!! Congratulations.

OMG!!! Your quilt is the bomb! Congratulations! You should enter this quilt in a show! It is fabulous!
If she ever decides she doesn't want it anymore, I can give it a great home for sure!!! Love the colors!
Way to go girl - I love it, it's stunning. As they say 'another one bites the dust'. Now you can have a break for a day or two to regroup and sort out your next priority project. I've whittles the purple applique pieces yet to be done down into the 30's ;0)

That is so amazing and so pretty. You did an awsome job!!
this quilt is absolutely beautiful! lucky girl---guitar girl :) so few people hand quilt any more, it is a test of perserverance! I know, I just finished hand quilting a quilt that took forever but now that it is done I am so glad that I took the time to hand quilt because it makes it more special. Give yourself a HUG! Did you use the same back basting technique on this quilt? I love the look of applique but just cant seem to get the hang of it. I ususally end up doing the blanket stitch around edges. I am wanting to try your back basting technique. Thank you for all the info on how to do it.
