Post Options

Over the weekend, I changed the view of my blog to be what blogger refers to as "dynamic"view but then changed it back.  My friend Heather at Retro Fabulous  now has her page set up this way.  What do you think?  When you log on, I think it appears in the format that the blogger identifies, such as Mosaic - where the photos of dozens of post are what you see and you click on the one that interests you. If you click on the header bar you can select "Classic" and get info the way most of us post. "Flipcard" option gives you thumbnails of the previous posts and the mouse-over gives the date and # of comments."Magazine" provides the first couple sentences of a post with a photo (click to read more).   There are several other options that you can click on to see the post as you like.

Leave me a comment.  What do YOU like??  I see pros and cons each way.  I want to provide information the way that most people want to receive it.  In this contest, the most vocal participants in the poll win.  If you don't give your opinion, no whining.

I didn't care for Mosaic. I prefer classic, timeslide, or magazine. If you have the drop down menu, everyone can pick what they like best. Love your quilts! Your Halloween costume was awesome!

I like Classic. I don't like Mosaic at all! It's way too busy and overwhelming!

Personally, I don't care for it at all. I like the classic. Classic is more reader-friendly!

I haven't changed my blog yet because I like the old format, but upon reading this blog post the only difference I noticed, was your title wasn't a link in the list of blogs I had to choose before even getting to your blog, other than that, it doesn't look any different reading your blog than it does ready others that haven't changed.

I thought your old format was fine. (But then again, I am old too and hard to change in my ways).

I like the classic format!

Didn't like the mosaic at all -- seemed visually cluttered. I do think quilters are probably visual types and the clutter overwhelms.

I love your work and wonder that you are able to do so much and so well.

I haven't changed mine either. In changing formats you will lose your sidebar and all the information posted there. I like classic too.

The new would not be my choice. How would you ever find the latest post? I want to keep up with with what is going on with my favorite bloggers and what they are currently doing.

I'm with Karen... how would you find the latest info? Most of the new formats seem too confusing/distracting to me.

Classic - because I visit regularly and want to see what is new!

Thanks for the shout out, Marjorie. I found it interesting with just 5 or 6 posts and no new tutorials I had A LOT of hits with the mosaic...more than most months in my stat history (not that stats mean much).

I think that ultimately, it REALLY depends on your readers.

The new format was popular on my site because I have a lot of email subscribers who automatically get each update---but they rarely go to my live page. When they do, the archive system doesn't do much for them.

Having the past articles posted by photo led to some new discoveries of some older posts but very few comments...not that I'm ever overwhelmed by comments...but even less than usual. If you are comment driven, the new set up is probably not for you.

I was bored this week and have switched it up again to keep things interesting...mosaic/magazine are cool in small doses and helpful for the long pauses between posts. When I quit blogging, I'll probably leave it on the magazine setting so people can find what it is they're looking for.

I hope this helps anyone considering the switch. =)

Best Wishes & Happy Stitching,
Heather
